A Rachel’s Vineyard weekend is a chance to get away from all the daily pressures of work and family and focus on this painful time in your life through a supportive and non-judgmental process. The time away provides an opportunity to deeply enter the grieving process and identify all the ways your abortion may have effected you.
Rachel’s Vineyard has a number of powerful exercises which allow the soul to speak its grief and sorrow. The exercises help to connect participants to their inner voice, to each other, and to the love and compassion of God. The retreat exercises help participants to accept forgiveness for themselves and others.
Rachel’s Vineyard is a unique approach to healing the wounds of abortion. Many women (and men) who have had or been involved in an abortion feel deeply wounded, even traumatized by the experience. Many of them feel alienated from God, from the Church, and sometimes from their family and friends. There are at least 27 different symptoms that have been tied to Post-Abortion Grief/Trauma. Rachel’s Vineyard is not a system of counseling or group therapy, but a weekend retreat designed to help us recognize our wounds, bring them to Christ Jesus, who is the only Savior and Healer, and to allow Him to heal the spiritual and emotional wounds of abortion. It also provides a safe and confidential place where we can grieve the loss of our children who were aborted.
The first Rachel’s Vineyard retreat was conducted in 1995 in Philadelphia, and in the years since, the ministry has spread all over the United States, and to many other countries around the world. Today, there are over 700 places where Rachel’s Vineyard retreats are offered worldwide, and most of them have been started by women and men who have personally experienced the power of these retreats, and then have been moved to share this healing experience with others.
